Backup Procedure

For all outright purchase clients, iWoWHRMS consists of 2 types of important data which required to backup:
  1. Upload Data Files: Upload data files refer to the files which uploaded into iWoWHRMS such as photos, attachments, letters and etc.
  2. Database: Database refers to the collection of data which updated into iWoWHRMS. The database used by iWoWHRMS is Microsoft SQL Server.


A daily backup of data files and database is required. Unexpected things can be happen, so a backup for HRMS data is crucial. It is advisable to perform the backup of iWoWHRMS application and database from your server to external hard disk or cloud. As the installation of iWoWHRMS may differently from individual server, here are the guidelines for your reference to identify the folder location of iWoWHRMS and scheduler SQL Server backup. 

Backup iWoWHRMS Installed Folder:

In order for you to know the location folder of the iWoWHRMS has been installed, you are able to check it from the IIS and please refer to the steps below:



  1. Open the IIS Manager. 
  2. Expand the Sites and Default Web Site.
  3. Right click on iWoWHR and click on Explore. 


  4.  Backup is required for iWoWHR folder. 


Schedule and automate backup of iWoWHRMS SQL Database:

There are different methods used to schedule and automate backup for SQL Server Express and SQL Server Standard. Please refers to below:

SQL Server Express

Due to SQL Server Express do not provide the SQL tools, thus it required to write scripts to schedule and automate the backup. There are few steps to back up the iWoWHRMS SQL database by using SQL stored procedure and Windows Task Scheduler. SQL Server Standard

SQL Server Standard provides the wizards in SQL tools which ease the automation of database backup. For details, please refer to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191239(v=sql.105).aspx

 


Note: It is advisable to backup the database and files onto different media such as an external hard disk or cloud.
